Let me tell my flyfishing story: About 10 yrs ago i wanted to start flyfishing so I bought a kit at Walmart and tried to teach myself to cast, that lasted about 2 sessions and I decided it was not for me. Well 3 yrs ago , I was in a Bass Pro Shop in Bossier City,LA , the North Louisiana Fly Fishers was doing a tying demo, I started talking to a few guys, joined the club and the FFF in june of 2009, learned to cast a little and tie alot. Got my NLFF master tyer in 2011 and was elected to clubs board of directors for the 2011 session. In March I joined the Gray Wolf Fly Fishers also, but my passion is warm water flyfishing and tying so I am in the process of putting together a new fly club for warm water only in the north central region of Louisiana.

  2. Jamie, best of luck with your club. If you do a fly fishing / casting / tying clinic in Ruston, I'd be more than happy to come up and take part some way. Need to be in Ruston for business sometime this summer anyway. Just check the calendar at laflyfish.com to see it doesn't conflict with Grand Isle weekend, Casting for Kids, or Ride the Bull.

  3. Jamie,
I am with the Acadiana Fly Rodders Club in Lafayette. I would like to get your contact information in order to send you some information on a Reel Recovery Retreat we are holding this spring at White Lake Lodge south of Gueydan in Vermilion Parish. RR is an outreach for men coping with cancer that uses fly fishing as the draw. We are searching for men who enjoy the outdoors and would like to attend a 3 day fly fishing retreat FOR FREE. If you are willing to help, please send me your contact information and I will forward the particulars to you.
Thanks in advance for your help.
